John D. Walters, Sr, 92, of Pleasant Mount, died Saturday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. His wife of 65 years is Priscilla Covey Walters.
Born April 28, 1931, in Englewood, NJ, he was the son of the late George and Anna McNamara Walters. John was a Korean War Army veteran and a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Forest City. He was a union carpenter prior to retirement, a member of the American Legion, and Local 808. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, and anything outdoors. He also liked to play golf with his son.
He is also survived by two daughters, Deborah Mowrey, Merritt Island, FL and Susan Roebuck, Belleville, NJ; a son John D. Walters, Jr., Pleasant Mount; seven grandchildren, Cayce, Ashley, Jacklynn, Jesse, Sarah, Juliet, and Veronica; two great grandchildren Barrett and Ronin; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters Barbara Goodwyn and Ann Christensen.
The funeral will be Saturday March 2nd, with services at 11:00am, to be celebrated by the Rev. William McGinty, in the Christ Episcopal Church, 700 Delaware Street, Forest City. Interment will be private. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City.
