William Harris, Jr., 63, of Forest City and formerly of Owego, NY died Friday morning at home of an apparent heart attack. His wife of over 40 years is the former Marlene Franceski.

Born in Carbondale on December 31, 1947, he is the son of the late William Harris and Rose Ewonishon, Simpson. He was a graduate of Fell High School, Bloomsburg University, and Cortland, where he earned his Masters degree in Chemistry.

Before retirement he was a Chemistry teacher at Newark Valley High School, Newark Valley, NY for 33 years. In his last year of teaching he was awarded the Mr. Bill Harris Award, which is now given every year to the teacher who exemplifies excellence and exceptional dedication and devotion in the field of teaching. He was the advisor to the Student Council, coached the youth soccer league, and tutored many in Chemistry so that students could meet their requirements for admission to college. He was known to also tutor friends of his wife, so they could be accepted into a nursing program after being out of school for several years. He was a member of Vestal Elks Lodge 2508, and the Owego Elks BPOE 1039 where he was elevated to the organizations highest rank, Exalted Ruler. He was an avid golfer and bowler, but his true love was his garden and flowers, where he spent countless hours weeding. The one thing he missed in moving to Forest City was his inability to take with him his many blueberry bushes, and all missed his delicious fresh blueberry muffins. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Also surviving are two children, William, New York City and Lindsey “Ruby” with fiancée Rich Gorel, Forest City; 3 grandchildren Karma, Serafena, and Jonah; a sister, Claudia and husband Joe Sladicka, Honesdale; Brother-in-laws, Joseph and Debbie Franceski, Browndale, Michael and Bernie Franceski, Bethlehem, and Sister-in-law Sue and Frank Goryl, Moscow; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Kristen, father and mother-in-law Joseph and Helen Franceski.

Funeral will be Tuesday at 10:00 am from the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in Sacred Heart Church, Forest City. Viewing on Monday from 6-9 pm and Tuesday from 9:30 am until time of funeral.

Glodek, Bernice Stella     November 10, 2011   [click here to email online condolence]

Bernice “Stas” Glodek, 87, a lifelong resident of Riverside, NJ went to be with Jesus on November 10, 2011 at the Forest City Nursing Center, Forest City, PA after a lingering illness. Her husband of 46 years was the late Frank G. Glodek who died in 1996.

Born January 5, 1924, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late John and Helen Maciejewska Ganski. She was a beloved and cherished mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be remembered kindly by everyone who knew her. Bernice was filled with love for her family and now is leaving us this legacy of love to pass down to our children. She was a beautiful confidant with a servant's heart. She gave more than she received and touched our hearts in a special way as only she could have done. She was supportive and funny, and a delight to be around. She will remain a blessing to our family and we hope that we too, can pass down the eternal treasures she molded to us. Bernice was “Mom” and “Friend” and we will love her forever, for “Love Never Dies.”

Surviving is a son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Astrid Glodek, Thompson, PA; a sister, Helen Mitchell, Aston, PA; 4 grandchildren, Britt and husband Anthony Ditcharo, Las Vegas, NV; Robyn and husband Glen Lerner, Paradise Valley, AZ; Frank and wife Vanessa Glodek, Rahway, NJ; and Andrew “Jake” Glodek, Phoenix, AZ; 7 grandchildren, Kaleigh, Max, Arreanna, Camilla, Noah, Luke, and baby Jordynn; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by 4 brothers: Bernard, Michael, John, and Joseph.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 11 am, at Resurrection Parish (St. Casimir Church), 502 New Jersey Ave, Riverside, NJ. Interment in St. Peter's Cemetery.

Viewing Tuesday at the church, 10 am until mass time.

Kevis, Eleanor     October 27, 2011   [click here to email online condolence]

Eleanor Kevis, 83, of Waymart, and formerly of Hancock, NY and Forest City, died Thursday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Her husband is the late Michael Kevis.

Born December 11, 1927, in Forest City, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Bridget Kuzzacavage Purisky. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Hancock, NY. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing at Lake Lorraine Golf Course. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are nieces and nephews including, R. Joseph, John, and James Purisky, and Helene Coulter, and Janine Purisky.

She was preceded in death by a brother R. Joseph Purisky and 3 sisters, Helen Zefran, Irene McLaughlin and Anne Wetterhahn.

Funeral Service will be Monday at 11:00 am in the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City. Interment, St. Anthony's Cemetery, Forest City. Viewing on Monday from 10 am until time of service.

Morrill, Kenneth     October 24, 2011   [click here to email online condolence]

Kenneth Morrill, 67, of Pleasant Mount, lost his battle with cancer on Monday, October 24, 2011 at home surrounded by his family. His wife of 47 years is Bonnie Urbanski Morrill. 

Born February 23, 1944, in Staten Island, NY, he was the son of the late Gerald and Helen Donegan Morrill. Ken lived in New Jersey before moving to Pleasant Mount 12 years ago, for retirement. Ken was a family man. He loved his family and the always came first, with his friends a close second. He was always there to help anyone who needed him. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed. Prior to retirement, Ken worked for Sipco Oil Company, Staten Island and Petro Oil, NJ for over 30 years. He was a member of the Pleasant Mount historical Society, and because of his hard work and time, the “O'Hara House” was able to be open. He was also a member of St. Juliana's Catholic Church.

Also surviving are a daughter Deborah and husband Patrick Pruitt, Sr; a granddaughter, Samantha and a grandson Patrick, all of Pleasant Mount; two brothers Fred and wife Ceil Morrill, GA, and Richie and wife Linda, NJ; a two nephews/sons, Jay Santos, Long Island and Wayde Morrill, Pleasant Mount; a niece/daughter, Gerry Santos-Keeney and husband Tyler, White Hall, PA. He is also survived by many other very special nieces and nephews, who loved him very much.

Preceded in death by two brothers Gerald and James, and two sisters Faith Rutherford and Eileen Santos.

Cremation services are private from the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, Forest City.

Memorial contributions can be made in Ken's name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN.

Tietz, Wayne Harold     October 11, 2011   [click here to email online condolence]

Wayne Harold Tietz, 49, of Herrick Center died Tuesday afternoon after injuries suffered in a accident at Elk mountain. His wife is Tara Morrison Tietz.

Born November 23, 1961, in New Jersey, he is the son of the late Harold and Betty Hammond Tietz. He was Native American and a graduate of Dunellen High School, Dunellen, NJ. Wayne was employed at Elk Mountain year round for 15 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, and was a skilled Native American craftsman. He touched the lives of everyone that crossed his path. He was a loving husband and father, and will be greatly missed by all.

Also surviving are two sons, Jesse and John; and two daughters, Shea and Tarwyn; a mother and father-in-law, Jean and Frank Morrison, Brother-in-law, Justin Morrison and wife Michelle, and his entire Native American community.

Funeral service will be Saturday at 11:00 am at the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City. Interment Ararat Cemetery. 

Friends may call Friday from 6-9 pm, and Saturday 10 am until service.

Wagner, Patricia "Patty"     October 8, 2011   [click here to email online condolence]

Patricia “Patty” Wagner, 59, of Forest City died Saturday at home after an illness.

Born November 25, 1951, in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Stanley A. and Mary Kowalick Meheltz. She was a graduate of Forest City High School, and previously worked as store manager for Tobacco Road in Forest City. She was a NY Jets football fan and she enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially Jeff Burton. She liked to go to the races at Penn Can with James Wagner, and at one time owned a modified car there. She was also a cat lover. Patty will be greatly missed.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their compassionate care in her final days.

Surviving are two sons, Ben Houman, Browndale and Kevin Wagner, Forest City, three granddaughters, Adeline, Arcadia, and Lilly Ann; a sister Dolly Cherneski, Browndale, and a brother Stanley Meheltz, Jr., Vandling.

Cremation is through the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City.

Thomas C. “Zig” Zigon, 53, of Uniondale, died Thursday morning at the VNA Hospice Unit, Scranton. 

Born June 5, 1958, in Carbondale, He is the son of Mary Sardinski Zigon, Forest City, and the late Clarence Zigon. He was a graduate of Forest City Regional High School, and was previously employed at NEP Telephone Co., Forest City and most recently Grimm Construction, Waymart. Tom enjoyed fishing and hunting, and he liked to tinker in his garage. Most of all he enjoyed helping others. He was a loving father and son and will be greatly missed.

Also surviving are two daughters: Justine and husband Andrew Burrell, Browndale, and Sara Zigon and Josh Wasylyk, Honesdale; a sister Joan and husband Stephen Balog, Springfield, VA; a nephew Marcus and a niece Valerie.

Cremation is through the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City.

Andrew “Hank” Petronchak, 89, of Starlight and formerly of Little Falls, NJ, died Tuesday at the Forest City Nursing Center. His wife Mary Majdic Petronchak died in 2008.

Born September 12, 1921, in Richmondale, he was the son of the late Basil and Anna Risboskin Petronchak. He served in WWII as a corporal in the Army Air Corp., prior to retirement he was a welder for Essex Conveyor, Nutley, NJ. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Surviving are two sons, John and wife Sabrina, Vernon, NJ, and Robert and wife Lisa, Independence, NJ; a daughter-in-law Donna Petronchak, West Milford, NJ, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, Brothers-in-law, Henry and wife Ann Majdic and John Majdic, both of Vandling, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son William.

Funeral will be Friday at 9:30am from the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City, with mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Sacred Heart Church, Forest City. Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery, Forest City.  Viewing Thursday from 6 – 9 pm.

Kennedy, Lucille E.        June 27, 2011        [click here to email online condolence]

Lucille E. Kennedy, 87, of Pleasant Mount, died Monday morning at Northumberland Village, Northumberland, PA where she resided for the past 5 years. Her husband, Claude W. Kennedy died in 2001.

Born in June 1, 1924 in Forest City, daughter of the late Dominick and Elizabeth Jannicelli Marchiony. She was a graduate of Marywood University, did post graduate work at the University of Scranton, and was a teacher for 30 years.

Lucille began her career in Pleasant Mount, Thompson, and Lakewood, PA.  She did the majority of her teaching in Forest City Regional School district, where she taught middle school and high school English. She retired in 1988. She was well respected by teachers, parents, and students and is remembered for her willingness to chaperon bus trips and school events.  She willingly went to basketball playoffs, senior class trips, and even went to Europe with students. She was responsible for senior home room and graduation programs along with the traditional Veteran's Day and Memorial Day programs.

Lucille was active and held offices in school, civic, and church organizations including the PTA, American Legion, Belmont Fire Co. Women's Auxiliary, and the Council of Women of St. James Parish. She also served as Wayne County Republican Committee Woman. She received the Governor's Award for Outstanding Citizen for fifty years of continuous voting. Lucille was an avid follower of baseball, especially the Yankees. She loved those Yankees! She was a caring and loving mother and will be missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are 5 daughters and their spouses, Claudia Overacker and Mike Cipollo, Troy, NY; Suzanne and Thomas Fitzgerald, Northumberland; Denise and John Levchak, Allentown, Michele and Robert Fenstermaker, Daleville; and Iva and Greg Swingle, Forest City; one sister Jeanne Gehrig; 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother Robert.

Funeral will be Friday at 9:30 from the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. James Church, Pleasant Mount. Interment Wheeler Hill Cemetery, Pleasant Mount.

Dr. Alexander J. Burik, 87, formerly of Crystal Lake, died Saturday at the Forest City Nursing Center.

Born June 19, 1923, he was the son of the late Rev. Nicholas and Vilma Kendrovski Burik. Alex was a member of St. John's Byzantine Catholic Church, Forest City. He was a graduate of Lyola University of Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. Prior to retirement he was a doctor of General Obstetrics & Gynecology. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by three nephews, Gregory, Christopher, and Paul Burik; and a grand niece Katie Burik.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. Nicholas Burik, and Dr. Theodore Burik; two sisters Helen Burik and Mary Burik; and a nephew Theodore Burik.

Funeral will be Wednesday at 9:30am from the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City with Divine Liturgy at 10am in St. John's Byzantine Catholic Church, Susquehanna Street, Forest City, celebrated by Rev. Leonard Martin. Interment St. John's Cemetery, Forest City.

Rose Paulin, 92, formerly of Union Dale, died Thursday at the Forest City Nursing Center. She was the widow of Felix Paulin.

Born in Forest City, daughter of the late John and Rose Stare Zgavec, Rose spent many years with her husband operating the family farm until their retirements. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church/Ascension Parish and the Slovenian Heritage Club. She was the last surviving member of the Union Dale Birthday Club.

She enjoyed baking, hiking and hunting. She loved spending time with her family epically her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Forest City Nursing Center for the compassionate and loving care of Rose.

She is survived by a son, William and wife, Mary "Pudgy" Paulin, Union Dale; two brothers, Augusta Zgavec, Olyphant; and John Zgavec, Forest City; a sister, Sylvia Curcio, Carbondale; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Zgavec; two grandsons, William P. Paulin and wife, Carrie; and Richard T. Paulin; four great-grandchildren, William III, Chad, Jared and Eric; nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Edward Zgavec.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main St., Forest City, with Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church/Ascension Parish, Hudson Street, Forest City.

Interment, St. Joseph's Cemetery, Forest City.

Ann E. Miluszusky, 77, of Richmondale, died Monday morning at home. Her husband is Joseph M. Miluszusky. The were married in 1952.

Born February 19, 1934, in Richmondale, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Dovin Shino. She was a member of St. Anthony's Church, Forest City. Prior to retirement, Ann worked as a teachers aid for Forest City and Lakeland Schools. She was a talented homemaker that raised four boys.  She was always doing things for others and she loved her grandchildren. Ann was a loving wife and mother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Also surviving are four sons, Joseph and wife Susan Martin, Scranton, Brian and wife Doris Miluszusky, Queens, NY, Kevin Miluszusky, Home, and Gary and wife Kelly Miluszusky, Richmondale; 3 grandchildren, Alexis Lea Martin and husband Brian Gammaitoni, Scranton, Mackenzie and Mason Miluszusky, Richmondale; two sisters Marion Janezic and Veronica Urbas, both of Richmondale; several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a brother Myron Shino.

Cremation services are private from the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, Forest City.

Patricia “Patti” Garrick, of Vandling died Sunday after an illness. She is survived by her husband of 40 years Joseph Garrick.

Born in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Trelc Polensek. She was a graduate of Forest City Regional High School, Class of 1962. She was retired from the Paper Magic Group where she had been executive secretary for 25 years.

Since retiring she and her husband enjoyed traveling around the country.  She also enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles.

She is survived by two sisters, Barbara Beautz and husband Joseph, Simi Valley, CA and Antoinette “Toni” Oakey and husband Al, Greenfield Twp., also an “adopted” sister, Sally Miller and husband Bob, Englewood, FL, 9 nieces and nephews, 9 grand nieces and grand nephews, and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by a brother John, Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, May 4th at 10 am in Sacred Heart Church, 612 Hudson Street, Forest City.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the church Wednesday 9 am until Mass time.

Mary M. Yakely, 97, of Browndale, died Saturday evening at Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale. Her husband John Yakely died in 1991.

Born March 23, 1914, in Dunlo, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Krainz Skarl. She was a member of Ascension of Our Lord Parish, Forest City and prior to retirement she worked for Plessy Airborne, Hillside, NJ. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Slovenian Heritage Club and the SNPJ, all of Forest City. She was a loving mother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Surviving is a son John and wife Deb Yakely, Alabama; a daughter Mary Lynn Yakely, Browndale; a brother Frank Skarl, Union, NJ; 3 grandchildren Matthew, Christen, and Lindsey; 2 great grandchildren Caleb and Natalie, several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by 3 brothers Joseph, Tony, and Edward; and 3 sisters Angeline, Josephine, and Margaret.

Funeral will be Thursday at 10:30 am from the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in Sacred Heart Church, Forest City. Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery, Forest City.

Calafut, Edward A.    April 22, 2011     [click here to email online condolence]

Edward A. Calafut, 87, of Browndale, died Friday afternoon at Aseracare Hospice, Peckville. His wife Mary F. Calafut died March 12, 2008.

Born December 4, 1924, in Carbondale, he was the son of the late Frank and Catherine Novobliski Calafut. Ed was proud of his service to his country in the United States Marine Corps. during WWII in the Phillipines, on Saipan and Tinian. He also served during the Korean War.

Ed's career involved heavy construction specializing on bulldozer operations.  He was responsible for many local landmarks including the first slope at Elk Mountain, Route 81, dams, coal reclamation areas, etc. He helped construct the 1964 Worlds Fair and other buildings in NYC.

Ed was always quick to lend a hand to help his neighbors. He loved working at his son's business, spending time with his granddaughter and family. He was loved and will be missed.

He is survived by a son Edward J. and wife Kathy Calafut, Vestal, NY, a daughter Kathryn and husband Bill Jones, Browndale, a brother John Calafut, two sisters Mary Savage, and Nellie Payne, a granddaughter Megan Jones, many nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be Tuesday at 11:45 am from the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City, with Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon in Sacred Heart Church, Forest City. Interment in St. Agnes Cemetery, Forest City. Viewing Tuesday from 9 - 11:45 am.

Feddock, William S.     April 21, 2011     [click here to email online condolence]

William S. Feddock, 89, of Forest City, died Thursday morning in a fire at his home. His wife Alice Ross Feddock died in 1997.

Born January 11, 1922, in Forest City, he was the son of the late William and Blanche Julius Feddock. He was a member of St. Agnes Church and prior to retirement he worked as an Industrial Engineer for Proctor and Gamble, Mehoopany. Bill was a veteran of WWII and a member of the F.C. American Legion Post 524, where he was past Captain. He was the chief prize-gatherer for the annual Rizner Children's Fishing Derby and a member of the Browndale Sportsman Club. He was a past District Deputy of the local Knights-of-Columbus and a charter member of the Board of Directors of Rail-Trail Council. His proudest achievements came as a writer for the Pennsylvania Outdoor Writers Assoc. where he achieved numerous awards and achievements including the prestigious Student Mentor Award and the 1993 Best Newspaper Column Award. His “Tales 'n Scales” column appeared each week in the Forest City News for over 25 years. 

Every Saturday, accompanied by his daughter, Bill would attend a different church in the Scranton Diocese. He was on a pilgrimage that amounted to over 100 churches visited and always receiving a special blessing from the priest. 

Bill was a loving father and grandfather who had a tremendous love for God and the outdoors. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by three daughters, Peggy Brager and husband Frank, Forest City, Alice Morton, Arizona, and Patricia Konzman and companion Ron Armstrong, Forest City; 4 grandchildren, Frank, Wes, Chris, and David; 3 great grandchildren, Kathy, Adam, and Maggie-Jean, several nieces and nephews.

Veronica M. Machek, 93, of Pleasant Mount, died Wednesday morning at the Forest City Nursing Home. Her husband Frank Machek died in 1992.

Born July 28, 1917 in New York City, she was the daughter of the late John and Agnes Deigan Comerford. She was a graduate of Hunter Prepatory College, NY  She was a member of St. James Church, Pleasant Mount, and it's altar and rosary society. She was also a member of the Belmont Fire Company Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. Prior to retirement she was a secretary for Metropolitan Life Insurance, a homemaker and she helped run the family farm for many years. She loved animals, especially her sheep.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are nieces and nephews including Joseph Machek, Browndale and Mary Ann Obelenus, Forest City, and several cousins in Ireland.

She was preceded in death by a brother William and two sisters Agnes Lawless and Rita Butela.

Funeral will be Saturday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. James Church, 361 Great Bend Tpk, Rt 371, Pleasant Mount. Interment in St. James Cemetery, Pleasant Mount. Viewing Saturday at the church from 9:00 am until Mass time.

Christine B. Bloxham, 83, of Forest City, died Tuesday evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. Her husband Richard L. Bloxham died in 1988.

Born December 16, 1927, in Forest City, she was the daughter of the late Ignatious and Angeline Jurjorvic Gros. She was a graduate of Forest City High School, a member of the Clifford United Methodist Church, and a homemaker. She was an honorary member of the Phoenix Club. Christine enjoyed sending greeting cards and her true passion was knitting, where she made sweaters for the charity, “Knit for Kids”.  She also sponsored a boy from the Philippines. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and always had a positive outlook on life.  She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Surviving are three daughters Nyoma and husband Al Schiavone, Windgap, Nanette Bloxham, Dundaff, and Melanie and husband Jack McHale, Browndale; two sons Richard and wife Denise Bloxham, West Clifford, and Robert and wife Judy Bloxham, Clifford Twp, 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Stanley and Ray; sisters Mary, Jean, and Angeline;sons Gregory and Roger; and a grandson Robert Jr.

Funeral service will be Saturday at 1:00 pm in the Clifford United Methodist Church, Route 106, Main Street, Clifford. Interment in Willow View Cemetery, Clifford.

Ellen T. Simon, 95, of Vandling, died Tuesday afternoon at Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton. Her husband John Robert Simon died in 1987.

Born April 14, 1915, in Vandling, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Cox Kilpatrick. She was a graduate and salutatorian of her class in the Vandling School. She was a member of St. Agnes Church, Forest City, it's Altar and Rosary Society, and was active in the Thursday Evening Prayer Group. Prior to retirement she worked for the Telephone Company, the Vandling Post Office, and was a seamstress at area dress factories. She was a member of the ILGWU. Ellen volunteered her time to drive area residents that couldn't get to church, and she drove until she was 90. She was a talented sewer, who enjoyed needlepoint, and made crafts and clothes. She was the matriarch and caregiver for the family. She was noted for her sense of humor and was famous for her cream puffs at the church bake sales. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are a son Eugene and wife A. Kealii Simon, Hawaii; two daughters Mary and husband John Cook, Waymart, and Roberta and husband James Logar, Browndale; 9 grandchildren, Sean, Christopher, Arielle, Nicholas, Aaron, Joshua, Gabriel, Kelsey, and Caelin; 5 great grandchildren, Chelsea, Alexandria, Barbara, Dakota, and Montana, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brothers Francis and Joseph, and a sister Mary.

Funeral will be Saturday at 9:30 am from the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Joseph's Church, Forest City. Interment St. Agnes Cemetery, Forest City.

Molly Vauter, 88, of Forest City died Sunday evening at the Forest City Nursing Center. Her husband, Peter Vauter, died in 2003.

Born July 5, 1922 in Forest City, she was the daughter of the late Anton and Agnes Gantar Erzen. She was a graduate of Forest City High School and prior to retirement she worked for several area dress factories. She was a member of St. Agnes Church and it's choir. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and baking. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are two sons, Richard and wife Bonnie, Waymart and Peter and wife Denise, East Stroudsburg; six grandchildren, Rebecca, Amy, Isaac, Lauren, Benjamin, and Caitlyn; two great grandchildren, Makayla and Luke; two brothers, Charles, East Brunswick, NJ and James, Carbondale; a sister Dorothy, Bethesda, MD, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son Mark, and sisters Mary, Cecelia, Marcella and Eva.

Funeral will be Thursday at 10:30 am from the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. Joseph's Church, Forest City.  Interment in St. Agnes Cemetery, Forest City.

William F. Emmons, 80, of Herrick Center, died Friday evening at home.  His wife is the late Sallie Russell Emmons who died in 2001.

Born September 12, 1930, son of the late John and Anna Maslar Emmons.  He was a graduate of Herrick Center School and valedictorian of his class.  He was of Catholic faith and prior to retirement he worked construction for Operating Engineers for 34 years.  He was also a former Susquehanna County Game Commission Official.  Bill belonged to the Freedom Lodge 328, Thompson and was a Mason for over 50 years.  He loved hunting and fishing and was an avid bird watcher.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Surviving are  five daughters, Linda and husband Pat Gormley, Clayton, NJ; Vickie Gregg, Olyphant; Bonnie and husband Gene Corey, Moscow; Jill and husband Joseph Baron, Forest City; and Wendy Emmons, Herrick Center; a son, William R. Emmons and wife Angie, ND, a daughter in law Marge Lockett, Herrick Center; a brother Eugene Emmons, Carbondale; 4 sisters Arlene Rasmussen, Herrick Center; Martha and husband Louis Kotar, Vandling; Lorraine Thompson, Binghamton; and Eunice and husband Joseph Lozinak, Forest City; 13 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son Danny Lockett, a brother George Emmons, and a nephew Ricky Emmons.

Funeral will be Wednesday with a 10:30 am blessing service in the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City.  Interment in Myers Cemetery, Herrick Center.

Jean M. Yaklic, 85, of Browndale, died Tuesday morning at Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale. Her husband Henry J. Yaklic, died in 1991.

Born July 29, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Steven and Anna Smith Gursky. She graduated from Forest City High School and was a bookkeeper prior to retirement. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church and she was an avid baker. Jean enjoyed spending time with her family and especially with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by 4 sons: Glenn and wife Marguerite, Scranton; Carl, Robert, and Kenneth, all of  Browndale; a daughter Kathleen and husband Kevin White, Browndale, a sister Ruth Ostanek, Binghamton, a brother Paul Gursky, Vestal, 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son Ronald, a brother Robert, and a granddaughter Paula.

Funeral will be Friday at 9:30 am from the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Joseph's Church, Forest City. Cremation to follow.

Harold Grunski, 92, of Waymart, died Tuesday morning at the Forest City Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Olive Robinson Grunski who died in 1994.

Born August 25, 1918, in Waymart, son of the late Walter and Camilla Boraski Grunski. He was a graduate of Aldenville School and a member of Sacred Heart Church, Forest City. He was a dairy farmer, and he delivered eggs and produce. Harold was a member of the Beekeepers Association, Honesdale, the Dairymens League, and a member of the Polish Alliance. He was great at making honey and sweet cider and he loved is dog Buddy. After his beloved wife Olive passed away, not many days passed by without him saying ”It's a heck of a life without a wife.” He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He would say “that all his do's are done.”

He is survived by a nephew Bill Grunski, Waymart and two nieces Marianne Pribula, Clifford Twp., and Joan Rine, Napanoch, NY, and dear friends Gene and Celestine Cicco, Forest City.

He was preceded in death by two brothers Alex and Stanley, and two sisters Harriet and Mary.

Funeral will be Saturday from the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Sacred Heart Church, Forest City. Interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Forest City.  Viewing Friday from 4-7 pm.

Friends are asked to go directly to church on Saturday morning for the mass.

Frances J. Quail, 62, of Greeley, died Saturday at home.  Her companion was the late Glenn Hayward who died March 16, 2009.

Born December 29, 1948, in Dover, NJ, daughter of the late Clayton and Clara Caskey Quail.  She was a homemaker and previously worked for RC Mechanical, Roxbury NJ.  She will be greatly missed by her family.

Surviving are a son Glenn Quail, White Mills and a daughter Ann Cabrera, Webster, SD and formerly of Forest City; 3 brothers James Quail, William Quail, and Ronald Quail; and 2 sisters Eleanor Totten, and Lydia Searfoss; 4 grand children Joseph, Modesta, Angela, and Angel III.; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brothers Clayton and Robert and a sister Clara.

Cremation services are private from the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, Forest City.
